Maternity Leave

Ireland provides 26 weeks of paid statutory maternity leave, with up to 16 further weeks available unpaid. Unlike countries that pay a percentage of salary — France and Germany pay 100%, Sweden 80%, Finland 90% — Ireland's paid weeks are covered by a flat State Maternity Benefit rate, which can mean a real income drop for higher earners.
